I'm not sure sure, but about the happiness/depressed thing... Maybe it's 'cause they're not engaged. :) I think the point is made very effectively.

I really love the signs that say "If you let me, I can get even fatter!" I especially love the sign that says "my diabetes medicine is expensive, force my fatass to run around" or this one "60+hrs of screen watching on my ass made me a jeenyuss" Technology is great, in the hands of the right people. In our schools we're deleting teachers and adding AC to help cool down the electronics. Hooray for Technology!

@randomxpersonx4 "yeah okay, spelling right will help you from not looking like an asshole when you comment on the? internet." Well, so will GRAMMAR, PUNCTUATION, and CAPITALIZATION.

so the next time a school bond issue comes up ...YES for technology!
By: paullkiim. on 31 Aug 10, 20:04:08
i saw a very similar video to the vision of college students. i hope teachers will actually be inspired to use technology for k-12 =]

1:57 Id bang him , and i would also at 2:03 also only half with graduate high school because north america has all the immagrants coming in who turn into gang bangers or any1 but mostly them and then they dont give a fuck 10 years ago my city was so peasful now its sorta ghetto . And I do this online i just started but its hard to start my assignments and my teacher is a liar , oh yeah and id band this last person @ 3:41
By: n0y0x. on 31 Aug 10, 03:33:42
@randomxpersonx4 Whats wrong with the F being backward? I think it's their lame way of making the video seem kid like. As for spelling, I hated it during elementary school. It was useless. I learned basic spelling through reading, not writing the same word over and over. My spelling is still horrible, but people can understand what I am trying to convey and that is most important. Theres spellcheck thesedays too. They can let everyone use the internet at school without abuse.

I just finished highschool. My grade 12 math teacher used email to communicate with us afterhours and it was the most useful thing for me the entire course. I enjoy my access and use of technology. If it were more available at school, I can't help but think I will enjoy school more.
By: randomxpersonx4. on 29 Aug 10, 16:08:30
2:02, 2:27 the letter F is backwards. ... 2:42 yeah okay, spelling right will help you from not looking like an asshole when you comment on the internet. 2:55 - 3:08 thats also why they have art and math class. and they cant let EVERYONE let the internet at school because people abuse it. also this seems very outdated.

@aavillanueva (And no it wasn't in my textbook, they were just, "you put e here and you can do this and this." )
By: arcturian627. on 29 Aug 10, 04:54:03
@aavillanueva "They"- referring to the mathematicians, and "e" is Euler's constant.
By: aavillanueva. on 28 Aug 10, 19:50:56
@arcturian627 I don't understand the questions you asked. What do you mean by "How they found the "e"? Who is "they" and to what "e" are you referring? You can absolutely find a lot of information in textbooks. Good for you.
By: ThePowerofTower. on 28 Aug 10, 01:50:54
@cmh132 it would be working a point further. Thank you very much.
By: ThePowerofTower. on 28 Aug 10, 01:50:28
@cmh132 You do realize that china is almost 4 times the size and I don't even know how many times the population of the US, right? While it's true they mentioned no student-to-honor-student ratio, it takes little more than common sense to say yes, they have more of them. 50% grad rate? Do you even KNOW how many teenagers would rather drop out than go to school? And how many are hard to teach? Prove otherwise, or no-ones agreeing with you. And the last question is irrelevant, and if it was MORE,

K12 has sold my e-mail address to every website you can imagine. my inbox is flooded after putting my e-mail address into their website. OMG, i think their business model is based on advertising, not education?!?!
By: kylemaddens. on 26 Aug 10, 19:02:00
Awesome!
By: GravityWithMe. on 26 Aug 10, 01:53:16
@Domodeath There might be something wrong, but there's no changing it. Most of my teachers in highschool would have a discussion at some point about some primetime show they watched the night before. Technology is now a part of our lives
By: GravityWithMe. on 26 Aug 10, 01:52:01
@cmh132 They cited their sources at the end of the video. :) Maybe you should do your own research before you call them crap. And some of the technology is not that limited. Why can't teachers send students homework reminders via text? Why can't a student ask a question in IM if the teacher is online anyway? What if you misunderstood the purpose of the homework? You can't tell me you've never done this. It's so much easier to text, e-mail, or IM than to call a teacher.
By: cmh132. on 25 Aug 10, 16:42:03
What a load of crap. Throwing percentages at random with no facts behind it is a dangerous thing. What this video fails to mention at all is that most districts don't either have the money for the technology, the board approval to use the technology, or the parents backing the use of it. To say China has more honor students than North American people? Prove it. 50% graduation rate in high school? Prove it. Game 3.5 hours a week my ass? Prove it. (I bet it's more)
By: donnabellemallari. on 25 Aug 10, 07:43:28
this is a challenge to all the teachers
By: TonFierAmi. on 22 Aug 10, 04:06:36
To all my colleagues from PIP: Hey guys I ran across this great video while looking for information on CENNI. I thought it'd be good to share it with you all. It made me realize that many of us might be taking for granted our student's potential and how much we could actually rely on technology to make our classes more meaningful for them. We are working with children of the Technology era, so we can't continue to rely on old fashind approches. Best wishes for this school year. Roger.
